G4S have an opportunity for a Vehicle Systems Engineer which will give exposure to a variety of technologies. The ideal candidate will have software development experience from a degree course in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. The position will involve all aspects of the software lifecycle in developing and maintaining software for specialist applications for industrial computers.

Customer focus

  • To maintain constant understanding of existing and potential equipment suppliers in order to maximise potential for vehicle design improvements or alternative solutions


  • Software development
  • PLC programming
  • HMI programming
  • Automotive Can Bus systems would be an advantage (but not essential)
  • Advanced Fault diagnostics
  • Training


  • To provide new  vehicle security control system software to an agreed specification
  • To create & design new  vehicle security control system specifications
  • To conduct bench and on site testing of all vehicle security control software to ensure quality assurance.
  • To provide technical assistance in fault diagnostic as required

  • To maintain a detailed knowledge of the Company’s operational requirement,  individual vehicle software specifications identify potential improvements  to optimise efficiency


  • To ensure projects are delivered to specification, quality standards and delivery dates, in order to satisfy the company’s operational needs

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • To work as part of a team ensuring that software and support are delivered to the highest standard
  • To provide technical support to mobile security technicians via phone or site visits 

The Ideal Candidate:


  • Qualified to Degree Level


  • Previous PLC / HMI  programming experience


  • Ability to write and interpret software flow charts
  • Ability to write and interpret software specifications
  • Ability to write and interpret technical reports
