The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Deployment Emergency Response Security Officer. As a Deployment Emergency Response Security Officer, you will deploy to a work site  200+ miles from the nearest G4S office.  Each deployment will be temporary, for a time period that will vary by assignment.  The officer must be prepared to work up to 84 hours a week and in arduous conditions. The officer must also be prepared to perform  intense physical duties to include walking and standing 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. While deployed, the officer will typically conduct foot and / or vehicle patrol (interior and / or exterior).  Control access and egress.  Compose reports.  Deter criminal activity and misconduct.  Perform other duties as specified in post orders.  Travel with overnight stay as needed.  Deployment can vary from overnight up to several weeks at a time, but must be able to commit to at least a minimum of 30 days of deployment consecutively.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
  • Sound alarms or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits
  • Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements
  • Investigate and prepares reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post
  • Provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Valid and current Maryland State Police Handgun Permit and Security Guard Certification
    • Valid and current Pennsylvania Act 235 Certification
    • Valid and current Armed Security Certification issued from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)
    • Valid and current Armed Special Police Officer (SPO) certification issued by the District of Columbia
    • Valid and current armed certification through the North Carolina Private Protective Services Board
    • Valid and current State of Delaware Firearms Security Guard License (Red Card)
    • Valid and current State of Ohio Fire Arms Bearer certification
  • Must have served in a licensed armed capacity for a minimum of 90 days
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • If previously employed, meaningful and verifiable work history
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Verifiable work history in any field
    • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience
    • Associate’s degree or higher in any discipline
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserves, or National Guard
    • Service in Auxiliary Police or Police Cadets

Other

  • Must be at least minimum of 25 years of age, or older if required by the state
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must be able to successfully complete all training required for the position
  • Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and / or console monitors
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling
